1.  Waterproof ≠ Moisture-proof 

 

 

Waterproof is to prevent liquid water, moistureproof is to prevent moisture gas .

 

The packaging material of LED devices is mainly epoxy resin and other plastic materials. The plastic is a polymer material, and the gap between the molecules of the polymer material is large. The vapor state water molecules can penetrate into the shell through the gap.

 

LED device, outdoor lamp bead device through the structural design, to meet the waterproof function of the product, but both outdoor and indoor lamp bead, due to the characteristics of plastic materials, are moisture sensitive electronic components.                               

 

 

2.  The Harm of LED are affected with damp

 

LED devices are affected by moisture and water vapor seeps into the lamp bead. When the water vapor contained in the air seeps into the lamp bead, the halogen in the water vapor will have an electrochemical reaction with the metal in the lamp bead under the condition of power on, which will result in a short circuit of the chip, power leakage or electrode loss, resulting in blind light and abnormal string light in the lamp bead on the display screen. 

 

 

case A: due to the decoration of the seaside building, the environment has high humidity, the LED display screen has not been used for a long time, and the moisture-proof measures have not been taken. After lighting, the dead light will be on.

 

 

 

 

Case B: during the Spring Festival holiday, the weather was wet, the LED display was out of power for a long time, and a batch of lights appeared after the holiday.

 

 

 

3.  The Measure of LED moisture-proof

 

Stop 1  -  LED lamp bead storage

 

When the LED lamp beads are transported and stored, they can be padded up to make them waterproof and moisture-proof

 

 

 

Stop 2  -  LED lamp bead online 

 

The lamp beads must be baked and dehumidified before the patch. We have corresponding schemes for different products with different degrees of moisture

Patch note control environment, it is recommended that the temperature of 20 ℃ ~ 30 ℃, humidity 40% RH to 60% RH.Pay attention to the patch cycle and use it as soon as possible after the oven or drying cabinet is taken out.

 

 

Stop 3 - The packaging of LED module 

 

The storage or transportation of modules and boxes shall be vacuum packed or sealed with desiccant. Avoid the screen body is installed at the same time with the project being decorated, the environment is not controllable, and it is not used after being exposed to the damp environment for a long time.

 

 

 

 

Stop 4 -  The use of led screen 

 

After the installation of the screen body, it shall be often lit for use. If the display screen is not used for a long time (generally 5-10 days), it shall be dehumidified before use, and the accumulated moisture in the screen body shall be removed by gradually increasing the brightness and slowly warming up.
